Contrast Therapy
What is Contrast Therapy?
Contrast Therapy combines controlled periods of heat and cold exposure to create a rapid change in body temperature and stimulate the body’s natural response to stress.
Alternating between heat and cold causes blood vessels to expand and constrict, stimulating circulation and influencing the nervous system.
At REGEN, we deliver Contrast Therapy using an infrared sauna and cold plunge. The process can support muscle recovery, reduce soreness and help the body adapt to physical stress.

Light swimwear or loose, breathable clothing works best. Bring two towels — one to sit on in the sauna and one to dry off afterwards.

There’s very little preparation needed. Make sure you’re well hydrated before your session and avoid arriving immediately after a heavy meal or intense exercise.
-
You’re free to alternate between the infrared sauna and cold plunge as you please. We can guide you by recommending time intervals based on your requirements and experience so don't need to work out the timings yourself. Just speak to one of our friendly staff for advice.
-
No. We recommend starting with the infrared sauna to warm up before moving into the cold plunge. The cold exposure should be kept brief; you can be adjusted the time intervals based on your experience.
-
It’s intense, but you should aim to make the exposure short and controlled. Slow, steady breathing can help you stay calm and comfortable as your body adjusts to the cold.
-
Yes. You don't need any previous experience. We'll guide you through the process and can adjust the cold exposure depending on how you're feeling.
-
If you’re pregnant, have a cardiovascular condition, uncontrolled blood pressure or another medical concern, speak to your healthcare professional before trying contrast therapy. If you're unsure, get in touch with us before booking.
-
Allow your body to return to its normal temperature naturally and rehydrate after your session. Light movement or stretching can also help you ease back into your day.
